Slow Food Barrel Talks and Tastings at Ludlow Spring Food Festival, hosted by Steve ‘The Hungry Guy’
Saturday
11.30pm – ‘Experimental British hops: sustainability in brewing
’Award winning beer writer, Laura Hadland (author of Beer Festivals: a great British tradition), will lead us through a tasting of local beers, with a focus on the exciting developments in British hop farming in recent years. Discover more about the role of hops in brewing and taste for yourself the impact they have on the beer.
1pm – Distillery Trends in the Marches
The Marches area hosts many local distilleries all distinct and thriving, several of which will be joining us to present their true spirit stories and showcase new products and mixes from this dynamic sector.
2.30pm – Cider and Food Matching with Steve the Hungry Guy.
Steve’s curated an assortment of locally produced ciders from the Marches and matched them with tasty morsels all sourced from the Ludlow Spring Festival. The question is do you agree with Steve’s taste buds and matching choices?
4pm - ‘From Hop to Glass. A home-grown English hop craft beer experience.
Join Jordan from Spilsbury & Jones to hear the story of a chance meeting of a local hop farmer and small batch brewer that led to the creation of Spilsbury & Jones. The story will be illustrated with tastings from their ranges of real ales.
Sunday
12pm – Creating Innovative Non-Alcoholic Drinks at Home
Meet Joe Stark, sommelier from Michelin Green Star Wild Shropshire restaurant on how to make you drinks at home more exciting and intentional. Together explore a range of different teas, infusions, juices and functional drinks, with a focus on flavour, creativity and the health benefits these drinks can offer. This session is discussion-based and ideal for anyone interested in elevating their everyday drinks without alcohol.
1.30pm – Wine Meet the Makers.
Join local drinks writer Ed Thomas as he presents and speaks with an array of different wines made by local makers and vineyards including Rowton Vineyard, Paso Wines, Stonebird Wines amongst others.
3pm – Chef Mark Harris – Small plates and the Social impact of The Great British Pub
All the elements that make a great country pub a classic can be found at the Tally Ho Inn, just 12 miles outside of Ludlow. Chef Mark Harris will be sharing a great British pub classic ‘The Ploughman's’, join him as he deconstructs the elements of the Ploughman’s and serves them with matching ales of his choice.
