'The walk was delightful and the food and drink provided at each of the stops
for refreshment were excellent. Having participated in this event since it was first launched in Ludlow, I can say that the 2008 walkwas memorable for the food provided, and in particular for the cheeseand pudding stops. The variety and amount of cheese provided was superb, as were the chutneys and biscuits that accompanied it. The little pot of deliciousness was just that - a wonderful fruity dessert.I look forward to next year's event.'

SLOW FOOD MARQUEE AND TASTE WORKSHOPS AT
LUDLOW FOOD FESTIVAL - Friday to Sunday 7-9 September 2007

On 7-9th September the great Ludlow Food and Drink Festival took place. It was a fantastic event, the sun shone and the Castle was, as always, the perfect setting for the most famous Food and Drink Festival in the country.

Slow Food Ludlow Marches had a very strong presence at the Festival. Members made sure that they were on hand in the Slow Food marquee to talk to visitors, and four UK presidia-3 Counties Perry, Cornish Sardines, Single Gloucester cheese and Gloucester Cattle, were represented in the marquee, their producers having travelled to Ludlow for the opportunity to showcase presidia products.

In the magnificent, newly restored Castle reception rooms Slow Food Ludlow Marches worked with local producers and experts to deliver taste workshops throughout the three days of the festival. From 'Snout to Tail’ which offered deliciously savoury dishes made from local pork, through tutored wine tastings accompanied by local produce, to the rarest chocolate in the world, participants were treated to some  seriously good food, all in keeping with the Slow Food ethos of ‘Good, Clean and Fair’.

THE LIE OF THE LAND - A Molly Dineen Film
Sunday 9th September 2007at Ludlow Assembly Rooms

Slow Food Ludlow Marches, in association with Channel 4, provided another opportunity to see this important, critically-acclaimed film. Members and others enjoyed a complimentary glass of perry before the film, and afterwards participated in a stimulating panel debate chaired by Peter Norman.

MAGNALONGA - Sunday 19th August 2007
This year's Magnalonga, despite the inauspicious weather forecast, attracted record numbers of people (more than 550 tickets were sold) and it actually didn't rain after the starting time of 10.00! Earlier heavy rain had forced us to make a quick change to our car parking plans, and there was certainly some mud around at the start, but our seekers of good food and good countryside were not daunted. The walk started in Mortimer Forest, a few miles west of Ludlow, and after climbing to the top of High Vinnals (fantastic views) descended to the hamlet of Elton, then on to Burrington Church, where the cast iron graves were a fascinating thing to see, and back up to the Bringewood hotel and restaurant for pudding. Yet another great Slow Food occasion!

BANGERS BREAD AND BEER - Friday 15th June 2007
On Friday 15th June we had an informal evening at the Ludlow Brewing Company's HQ in Corve Street.
The evening started at 7 pm, and we met Gary Walters the brewer and founder of the Ludlow Brewing Company, and tasted Ludlow Gold and Boiling Well and Gary showed us how they are made.
Peter Cook, the Ludlow baker, provided bread rolls for sausages from Ludlow's butchers - this was a great low-cost evening.
